Hanuman, when grew up, became the minister of Sugreeva, the king of KishKindha. During the time when Ravana took Sita to Lanka, Rama, and Laxmana came wandering to KishKindha forest in search of Sita. Sugreeva saw him when he came with Lakshmana. Sugreeva and his companions were full of fear that Bali had sent Shri Rama and Lakshmana to kill them. But Hanuman asked them not to be afraid. Sugreeva was also very anxious to know who those young men were. Whom should he send to talk to them? Finally, he chose Hanuman.

Hanuman was having the ability to easily understand the nature of other people. Hanuman took the form of a Brahmin and went to the brothers. Seeing Rama he knew that he could not be a wicked spy. At once changing into his original form he asked the brothers to introduce themselves. When Rama and Laxmana told him their story, Hanuman bowed respectfully and said he was Vayu's son and also the exiled king Sugreeva's deputy. On hearing that Rama and Laxmana had come searching for Sugreeva, Hanuman said it would be an honor to help Rama to free Sita from Ravana's clutches.

Hanuman took Rama and Lakshmana to Sugreeva.  Soon Sugreeve and Rama also became very good friends. Rama later helped Sugreeve to get his Kingdom back from Bali. Hanuman from that time onwards was always with Rama and this is how their eternal friendship started.
