How many Blinds | Akbar-Birbal

It was a beautiful afternoon when Akbar and his nine jewels were discussing important kingdom related topics in his court. In between King Akbar questioned Birbal if he knows the number of blind citizens of their kingdom.

Raja Birbal before giving any answer thought for a minute and then requested King Akbar to give him a week’s time.

The next day Raja Birbal was found to be repairing shoes in the town market. He had a pen and a small diary with him. One person while walking on the road recognized Raja Birbal and was shocked. He told everyone that Raja Birbal is doing the work of repairing shoes.

Astonished to see Birbal doing such work. Many of them started to question "Birbal!! What are you doing?"

Every time someone asked this question, Birbal started writing something in his notebook. It continued for a week and the news spread till King Akbar. On the 7th day, King Akbar himself asked Birbal the same question.

Birbal didn't give any answer that day. Birbal reported to the court the next day and handed over the diary to King Akbar. In the diary, it was a large list of people who were blind.

Emperor Akbar was stunned when he found that his name is also present on the list. Angered by this, Akbar asked Birbal the reason for writing his name on the list.

Birbal politely replied, "Your Majesty! Like all other people, you also saw me repairing the shoes but you still asked me what I was doing. Therefore I had to include your name too."

Akbar burst out laughing at this and everyone enjoyed Birbal's sense of humor.
