It was a bright sunny day when the King Akbar was inspecting the law and order situation in the kingdom. He was talking to all his ministers on this topic. One of the ministers, who was always jealous of Raja Birbal, complained that the King gives much important to Birbal's suggestions and ministers like us were ignored. Akbar gave a thought for this and wanted to show minister why Birbal was so important to him.
Only a few days later there was a marriage procession going on. The Emperor ordered the minister to enquire whose marriage it was. The minister found out and walked towards the King with a big proud face.
Then the king called Birbal and asked him too to enquire whose marriage was going on. When Birbal returned, King Akbar called the minister too and asked him, "Where are the couple going?" The minister was stunned and confused. He said that the King only asked him to enquire about whose marriage was going on/
Akbar asked Birbal the same question."They are going to the city of Allahabad", replied Raja Birbal.
The king turned towards the minister and said, "Now do you understand why Birbal is more important to me?
It is not enough if you complete a task. You have to use your intelligence to do a little extra work to be ahead of others.’ The minister’s face fell. He had learned the importance of being Birbal, the hard way.
"If you want to succeed in life and be ahead of others don't just finish the task. Do something extra then what is asked for!!"
