The King had ordered the guards to execute Tenali. The King told, "He seems to be too clever. Do one thing. Bury him neck deep in the soil so that he cannot move. Then have him crushed by an elephant.”
The guards took Tenali to a far place outside the city. One of the guards dug a deep pit while other was watching Tenali. They both then pushed Tenali into the pit and soon only Tenali's head was visible above the ground.
The Guards laughing on Tenali left to get the elephant so that they can crush Tenali.
TenaliRaman as always kept his calm and said to himself positively, "Help is on my way! It will come soon."
Suddenly a washerman, who had a hunchback, started coming with a bundle of washed and pressed clothes on the same road where Tenali Raman was underground. He was amazed to see a head on the ground. Anxiously he went near the head and Tenali said, "Hi!"
The washerman was startled to hear sound coming from the head without a trunk or limbs. Scared, he stepped back.
Raman said, "Don't be afraid of me. I am just like you, a washerman. I also have a hunchback and because of continuous teasing of my wife I am here."
Washerman asked, "Do you also have a hunchback? What you are doing here? Hiding from your wife's nagging ?"
Raman said, "No it is not what you are thinking. I met a very wise man few hours back and he told me if I stand buried neck deep for like 10-12 hours my hunchback will go forever."
Hearing this the Washerman got excited. "Does it really work?" said the washerman.
Tenali said, "It worked for the wise man. I am also waiting for my wife to come and see myself as I have finished my 12 hours."
Washerman thought why to wait for more. If this can work, he can also do the same. Let me only pull him up and see by myself.
The washer man loosened the earth around Raman and pulled him up. Raman came up and standing straight like an arrow. He said in excitement and happiness, "Wow! I am free of my hunchback!"
The washer man was impressed. He told Raman that he was tempted to try the remedy. “Go ahead do it,” said Raman.
“But I have this bundle of clothes to be delivered to the palace!” said the washer man.
‘I’ll do it for you,” Raman volunteered.
Entrusting the bundle of clothes to Raman, the washer man jumped into the pit vacated by Raman.
Raman filled the pit and packed it tightly with soil. Now, only the washer man’s head could be seen above the ground. Then he left carrying the bundle of clothes.
From the other side, the guards came back with elephants thinking to crush Tenali. They were startled to see that Tenali is no longer there and the washerman is there instead. They pulled him out of the pit and asked him how he had landed there. The washer man told his story.
Tenali Raman once again used his wittiness and saved himself.
Moral:-
Dear Friends!!
"No matter how tough the situation is in your life, think positively. Thinking positive may not solve your problem immediately but will definitely help you to find the solution to your problem."
