The Selfish Horse | Kids Story

Once upon a time, there was a washerman named Kiku. He had two animals, a horse, and a donkey. One day the washerman was supposed to carry many bundles of cloth to another town. He loaded a donkey with all the bundles and they started their journey together, with the horse also part of their journey.

The donkey used to carry the load but not like this much. With this large load, he soon began to get tired. He said to the horse, "Can you carry some of my burdens, I am getting tired."

The horse refused to help the donkey. He said, "It is not my work to carry the load. You only carry it and I do not care whether you are tired or not."

Soon, the exhausted donkey could walk no further and collapse in the middle of the road. The washerman was determined to complete his journey. So, he put all the donkey’s baskets onto the horse and continued on his way.

The horse had to carry the whole weight throughout the journey. He couldn't do anything and just thought that he wished he could have helped the donkey before and only had some of the load on himself.

Moral:-
