Story of How Hanuman Met Sita | Mythological Story

This is the story of the day when Hanuman meets Sita first time in Ashok Vatika.

Ravana when kidnapped Sita, took her to Lanka. One day Sita was sitting in the Ashoka Vatika, sad and depressed, waiting for Rama to come and get her. Ravana came and said to Sita, "If you marry me, I will make you my Patrani( Chief Queen )."

Sita got angry and declared, "How dare you compare yourself with Rama! You are a thief and cruel person who got me without my permission. You will not have in my dreams."

Ravana felt insulted and threatened her, "I am giving you one month either marry me or I will kill you."

He left the Vatika and asked Trijata and other Rakshasnis to threaten and torture Sita until she agrees to marry. Sita was in her own sad mood. She was feeling guilty that why she didn't hear on Lakshmana's warning to not cross Lakshmana's Rekha. The Trijata and other Rakshasnis felt the pain of Sita and instead of torturing left her alone.

In the meantime, Hanuman had reached Lanka and he was hiding under the tree. He heard everything that was happening below. Hanuman thought it was important to assure Sita of her safety. After the Rakshasnis had left, Hanuman came out of hiding. Thinking that Sita might mistake him as Ravana's man, he narrated Ram's story and showed her his ring. Sita was overjoyed, but she also reminded Hanuman that only two months were left before Ravana would kill her.

At this hanuman begged to take Sita across the ocean but Sita replied that Rama should himself come and take her back after defeating Ravana.

Hanuman promised her of their return. As he prepared to go, Sita handed over her jewelry to him as a token of her love for Rama.
