King Vikram carried the corpse of Betal on his shoulders, and Betal began telling another story to Vikram!
In the village of Kishannagar, there lived a noble and compassionate king named Rajendra. Despite being married for many years to his beloved queen, Prema, the couple had no children. King Rajendra was fair and kind to his people. Eventually, the couple was blessed with a daughter, whom they named Sona.
As their only child, Sona was cherished by her parents and given the freedom to choose her path in life. She excelled in her studies and became highly skilled in archery and swordsmanship. As Sona grew older, her parents wished for her to marry a suitable suitor. However, Sona set a condition: she would only marry a man who could defeat her in both archery and swordsmanship.
The king agreed to her terms and announced the challenge throughout the kingdom. Many suitors arrived, confident they could easily defeat a woman. But Sona proved them wrong, defeating each challenger effortlessly.
Among the spectators was a young man named Uday. He observed Sona’s techniques and strategies closely, learning from her every move. Eventually, Uday presented himself as a suitor to the king. When he faced Sona, he cleverly defeated her using the very skills he had learned by watching her.
King Rajendra, impressed by Uday's skill, asked him where he had learned to fight so well. Uday confessed that he had learned by observing Sona's battles.
Sona then declared, "You have defeated me, but I cannot marry you." Uday agreed, saying, "Yes, you should not marry me." The king and queen were surprised by their decision.
Betal then asked Vikram, "Why did Sona refuse to marry Uday even after he defeated her? If you know the answer and choose not to speak, you are not a king of justice."
Vikram responded, "Uday learned all his skills by observing Sona, making her his teacher or 'guru.' In Hindu culture, it is inappropriate for a teacher to marry their student. Both Sona and Uday realized that their relationship was one of teacher and student, not potential spouses. Therefore, they decided not to marry."
Having answered, Vikram broke his silence, and Betal flew back to the old tree. Vikram, determined, chased after him with his sword.
