दीवान की मृत्यु क्यूँ? | बारहवीं कहानी | विक्रम-बैताल

कई असफलताओं के बाद राजा विक्रमादित्य ने एक बार फिर बेताल को योगी के पास ले जाने की कोशिश में अपनी पीठ कर लादा और चल पड़े। रास्ता काटने के लिए बेताल ने फिर से राजा को एक नई कहानी सुनानी शुरू की।

बहुत पुरानी बात है, यशकेतु नाम के राजा पुण्यपुर नामक राज्य में राज करते थे। उनका सत्यमणि नाम का एक दीवान था। सत्यमणि बड़ा ही समझदार और चतुर मंत्री था। वह राजा का सारा राज-पाठ संभालता था और विलासी राजा मंत्री पर सारा भार डालकर भोग में पड़ा रहता।

How Birbal caught the Thief | Akbar Birbal

Today's story is one of the popular stories of Akbar Birbal Collection. It all starts when a rich merchant is robbed. His all jewels and cash money is gone. Merchant had a lot of servants at home and his suspicion was on one of them.
In hopes of catching the thief and getting his jewels and money back, he went to Akbar's courtroom. After listening to his story Akbar asked Birbal to investigate this further. 

The Pigeons and the Hunter | Panchatantra

Once a flock of pigeon was flying from the top of the forest. It was a beautiful day and the sky was also clear. But it was not like every other day. This time a cruel hunter was waiting to catch the pigeons.

The Hunter had laid a net with rice spread all over it. He knew that the pigeons would definitely come to eat the rice and he can catch them easily. Shortly, a flock of pigeons comes by and start eating the rice and get caught in the net.

Raman’s cure for hunchback | Tenali Raman

This story is about the time when Tenali Raman was still trying to impress the King.

The King had ordered the guards to execute Tenali. The King told, "He seems to be too clever. Do one thing. Bury him neck deep in the soil so that he cannot move. Then have him crushed by an elephant.”

The guards took Tenali to a far place outside the city. One of the guards dug a deep pit while other was watching Tenali. They both then pushed Tenali into the pit and soon only Tenali's head was visible above the ground.

अकबर बादशाह दरबार लगा कर बैठे थे। तभी राघव और केशव नाम के दो व्यक्ति अपने घर के पास स्थित आम के पेड़ का मामला ले कर आए। दोनों व्यक्तियों का कहना था कि वे ही आम के पेड़ के असल मालिक हैं और दुसरा व्यक्ति झूठ बोल रहा है। चूँकि आम का पेड़ फलों से लदा होता है, इसलिए दोनों में से कोई उसपर से अपना दावा नहीं हटाना चाहता।

मदनपुर नगर में वीरवर नाम का राजा राज करता था। उसके राज्य में एक वैश्य था, जिसका नाम हिरण्यदत्त था। उसको मदनसेना नाम की एक कन्या थी।

महाराज कृष्णदेव राय अपने बचपन में सुनी कथा अनुसार यह विश्वास करते थे कि संसार-ब्रह्मांड की सबसे उत्तम और मनमोहक जगह स्वर्ग है। एक दिन अचानक महाराज को स्वर्ग देखने की इच्छा उत्पन्न होती है, इसलिए दरबार में उपस्थित मंत्रियों से पूछते हैं, " बताइए स्वर्ग कहाँ है ?"

A Promise Not Kept | Vikram Betal

Vikram went back to the tree and mounted Betal on his shoulders again. Betal started telling him another story.

The story went like this:-
The ruler of Kishanagar had an extremely beautiful daughter, named Sona. As she was the only child, she enjoyed a lot of freedom. She was intelligent, well read and skilled in the use of weapons. When she reached a marriageable age, the king started looking for a suitable partner for her. The princess wanted to marry a man more skilled than her in every respect. So, she asked her father to make an announcement that she would marry only the person who would be able to defeat her in a fight. The king was very proud to hear his daughter’s views and made announcements in every state, inviting princes to his kingdom.

कुएँ के पानी का न्याय | अकबर-बीरबल

एक समय की बात है, बादशाह अकबर अपने दरबार में दरबारियों के साथ बैठे हुए थे। तभी दरबार में एक किसान और उसका पड़ोसी पहुंचे। किसान इंसाफ की गुहार लगा रहा था।
बादशाह अकबर ने किसान से पूछा कि आखिर क्या तकलीफ है, क्यों वहां इतना परेशान है।

तेनाली की मुनादी | तेनालीराम

एक बार राजा कृष्णदेव राय से पुरोहित ने कहा, "महाराज, हमें अपनी प्रजा के साथ सीधे जुड़ना चाहिए।" पुरोहित की बात सुनकर सभी दरबारी चौंक पड़े। वे पुरोहित की बात समझ न पाए। तब पुरोहित ने अपनी बात को समझाते हुए उन्हें बताया, "दरबार में जो भी चर्चा होती है, हर सप्ताह उस चर्चा की प्रमुख बातें जनता तक पहुंचाई जाएं। प्रजा भी उन बातों को जानें"'

मंत्री ने कहा, "महाराज, विचार तो वास्तव में बहुत उत्तम है। तेनालीराम जैसे अकलमंद और चतुर व्यक्ति ही इस कार्य को सुचारु रूप से कर सकते हैं। साथ ही तेनालीराम पर दरबार की विशेष जिम्मेदारी भी नहीं है।"

चालाक लोमड़ी और मूर्ख कौआ | पंचतन्त्र

एक जंगल में एक लोमड़ी रहती थी। वो बहुत ही भूखी थी। वह अपनी भूख मिटाने के लिए भोजन की खोज में इधर - उधर घूमने लगी। उसने सारा जंगल छान मारा, जब उसे सारे जंगल में भटकने के बाद भी कुछ न मिला, तो वह गर्मी और भूख से परेशान होकर एक पेड़ के नीचे बैठ गई।

The King Vikram wanting to take Betal home started listening to another story by Betal. Rules are same if the King knows the answer and didn't tell he will be killed, and if the king speaks anything Betal will fly away.
Betal started the story. Once upon a time, there lived a Brahmin in a city, who had four sons. The Brahmin had himself taught the Vedas and the holy scriptures to all of them.
One day, the brothers decided to venture out into the world on their own, learn a special skill and then come back again to meet each other. So, they went to learn something extraordinary and after some time, came back to meet each other at the appointed time.

एक समय की बात है, मिथलावती नाम का एक नगर था। वहां गुणधिप नाम के राजा का शासन चलता था। राजा से मिलने के लिए रोजाना दूर-दूर से लोग आया करते थे। एक बार उनसे मिलने और उनकी सेवा करने के लिए किसी राज्य से एक युवक आया। युवक ने राजा से मिलने की बहुत कोशिश की, लेकिन वो राजा से मिल नहीं पाया। अपने साथ युवक जो भी सामान लाया था, वो सब भी खत्म हो गया था।

It was a bright sunny day when the King Akbar was inspecting the law and order situation in the kingdom. He was talking to all his ministers on this topic. One of the ministers, who was always jealous of Raja Birbal, complained that the King gives much important to Birbal's suggestions and ministers like us were ignored. Akbar gave a thought for this and wanted to show minister why Birbal was so important to him.

धर्मपुर नाम की एक नगरी थी। उसमें धर्मशील नाम का राजा राज करता था। राजा का अन्धक नाम का दीवान था। एक दिन दीवान ने कहा, "महाराज, एक मन्दिर बनवाकर देवी को बिठाकर पूजा की जाए तो बड़ा पुण्य मिलेगा।"

राजा ने ऐसा ही किया। एक दिन देवी ने प्रसन्न होकर उससे वर माँगने को कहा। राजा के कोई सन्तान नहीं थी। उसने देवी से पुत्र माँगा। देवी बोली, "अच्छी बात है, तुम्हें बड़ा प्रतापी पुत्र प्राप्त होगा।"
कुछ दिन बाद राजा के एक लड़का हुआ। सारे नगर में बड़ी खुशी मनायी गयी।
